Ellen Harvey PhD
Ellen is an executive coach and licensed psychologist with 25 years of experience consulting for public and private sector organizations on the issues of executive coaching, team building, and leadership training. She served on the faculty of the National Leadership Institute, an affiliate of the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) for 23 years. There she successfully coached hundreds of leaders from a range of organizations; served as lead trainer for CCLs core leadership programs; and served as Coaching Talent Manager and Chief Assessor for a team of 30 Ph.D. level psychologists/coaches. She has also held adjunct positions in the University of Maryland's Executive MBA program as well as Marymount University's graduate psychology program.
Over the past 25 years, Ellen has provided executive coaching and consulting services to senior executives and mid-level managers in numerous global and domestic institutions such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, Microsoft, Capital One, UBS, Department of Agriculture, National Institutes of Health and University of Michigan. She has expertise in a broad range of leadership and management skills including interpersonal relations, leadership confidence and presence, communicating for impact, working with multicultural clients and their teams, productivity and time management, strategic planning, and team productivity.
Ellen’s approach to coaching is grounded in research as well as real-world solutions. She tailors each coaching engagement to fit the needs of the client and their organization. She often uses assessments to help clients increase self-awareness, develop focused goals, create solutions, and increase their capacity for future growth and success. She helps executives lead with courage based on self-knowledge, effectively motivate their teams to realize their potential, and make wise decisions for the overall health of their organizations.
Ellen earned a PhD in counseling psychology from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She is a member of the Society for Consulting Psychologists and Co-Founder of The Executive Coaching Roundtable, an organization dedicated to providing state-of-the-art continuing education for senior executive coaches.
