Paul Thallner MS
Paul Thallner brings to AIIR more than 20 years of experience in large, complex systems change and has studied leadership and organizational change at the top-ranked Weatherhead School of Management. Paul is an executive coach and organizational development consultant specializing in strengths-based change.
By helping leaders leverage their strengths to drive engagement and results, Paul has built a reputation as an expert in catalyzing positive, sustainable organizational change at scale. His clients have included senior executives from PepsiCo, The Arthur Ashe Institute for Public Health, U.S. Department of Agriculture, The Corporation for National and Community Service, and more.
Paul was hired recently to redesign the executive coaching component of the Presidio Institute’s flagship cross-sector fellowship program. In 2013, he was awarded a FuseCorps fellowship to design innovative cross-sector solutions aimed at reducing the high school dropout rate. While he was a consultant at Teleos Leadership Institute, Paul led large-scale transformational change projects for various clients.
Paul was President of School Performance where he developed innovative solutions to provide student achievement data to school administrators quickly, efficiently, and at low cost. Here, he was able to lead a complex mission-driven, multi-stakeholder organization, and his experience led him to become a student of leadership.
Paul received an MS in Positive Organizational Development and Change from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University where he graduated with distinction and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma management honor society. He also holds an MA from the College of New Jersey and a BA from Gettysburg College. Paul started his career in Washington, DC researching best practices in education and later was appointed by Governor Pete Wilson to lead the development of California’s Math and Science standards.
Paul provides pro-bono coaching to early-career non-profit leaders, and he volunteers with several community organizations. He enjoys reading, cycling, hiking, coffee, and spending time with his wife and son.
