Cathie Murensky, is an Industrial/Organizational psychologist who brings to AIIR extensive expertise in leadership, talent and organizational development. Cathie’s coaching style is based on 3 key criteria that allow her to align an organization’s business strategy and measure success: skill acquirement, changed behavior, and achievement of a business goal. Her experience spans a wide-range of engagements including the development of competency models, full life-cycle leadership development programs, immersion/on-boarding, high-potential development and succession planning.

Cathie’s expertise is based on an integration of her experience in the private and public sectors working with diverse individuals, teams and organizations. She has worked as both an external consultant and an internal practitioner and has previously held a number of roles as Director in Learning and Leadership Development. Through these roles, she has built and managed Organization and Leadership Development functions, as well as Learning and Development teams.

Prior to her roles as Director, Cathie worked for a global organization in the energy industry where she was the lead consultant for their human capital function. In this role, she partnered with senior stakeholders to assess their needs, as well as design and implement tailored development solutions. Cathie has also spent several years as a Human Capital consultant with the HayGroup.

Cathie’s past clients have included companies such as Mobil Oil, Rolls-Royce N.A., CASE Latin America, Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), U.S. Air Force (USAF), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), US Department of the Navy, Molson Coors Brewing Company, Seagram, Volvo, and Leadership Fairfax Inc.

She is an adjunct professor for the University of Maryland where she teaches International Leadership and Communications. She is also an adjunct professor for the University of Denver where she teaches a graduate course in Organization Design, Culture and Change Management. In the past, Cathie also taught a capstone course for a Master’s program at George Washington University on HR consulting skills.

Cathie holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from George Mason University, an M.A. in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology from East Carolina University and a B.A. in Psychology from East Carolina University. Her doctoral dissertation on Emotional Intelligence is cited as the #3 best selling dissertations of all time across all disciplines.
