Koji is an experienced clinical psychologist and executive coach with experience at the highest levels of leadership in various industries, from retail through finance to high-tech. Koji believes that most people have innate ability to change. He sees his role as partnering with the client to explore opportunities for change and assisting them in structuring their development.
Koji’s style is focused on taking initiative, challenging his clients when appropriate, and earning their trust. He believes a successful coaching relationship is professional, confidential, safe, and focused on developing new strategies for addressing challenges and obstacles. Prior to his current role, Koji was an executive in the outplacement industry, where he consulted with Japanese corporate clients on employee selection and development. He was also heavily involved in both psychological and career counseling in non-profit, healthcare, and higher education organizations in both the U.S. and Japan. In addition to these experiences, he devoted years of his career to teaching and research on industrial counseling and mental health. These experiences broadened his coaching capability to encompass life-work balance issues and how to best support leaders in research and technology.
As a consultant, Koji is actively involved in leadership, assessment, development, and training, in addition to coaching. Koji has experience teaching Human Resource Management to graduate MBA students at Rikkyo University and practiced psychological counseling at Samejima Bonding Clinic.
