Sonya partners with high-achieving, mission-driven leaders and their teams to help increase both their capacity and their impact in sustainable ways. She believes that the armor top performers wear to reach high-level positions ultimately holds them back from truly creative, collaborative leadership that is marked by vision rather than crisis management. She works with clients to move beyond technical skill development to adaptive change–clients who are willing to dismantle their protective armor to explore their vulnerability, relinquish control, and embrace the risk of failure in service of scaling innovation and effecting real change in their organizations.
Sonya's coaching is deeply influenced by her twenty plus years as an appellate attorney. She served as counsel in matters before the U.S. Supreme Court and numerous other appellate courts on behalf of individuals as well as institutions such as the American Bar Association, Brennan Center for Justice, Constitution Project, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. By working to forge partnerships in the legal community on behalf of her clients, she developed a collaborative, creative approach to her leadership that she brings to her work as a coach in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors.
