Marie-Jeanne Juilland brings to her coaching 25-plus years of combined experience as an executive and an advisor to executives at both fast scaling and established organizations, including Google, SAP, Genentech, Uber, and Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, among others. Prior to that, she was a recognized national journalist, writing about venture capital, technology and emerging companies for publications including the New York Times.
Marie-Jeanne specializes in improving key leaders’ communication skills and executive presence. Her approach blends the latest in neuroscience with a hands-on behavioral skills methodology. The outcome for leaders: powerful authentic leadership – built on the “inside” and delivered on “outside.” Marie-Jeanne is known for a compassionate yet direct style that quickly identifies core issues. Her own experience in the C-Suite leads to measurable business outcomes, yet at the same time, helps leaders find the “space to think and breath.”
She has helped technically brilliant rising stars and founders rapidly build leadership skills, and more seasoned leaders polish their presence during transitions. She works with intact teams or cohorts of peer leaders to build greater competence, trust, impact; and with leadership groups seeking high-output and highly engaging strategic meetings and offsites.
Some of Marie-Jeanne’s leadership roles have encompassed signature initiatives at TriNet as VP of Marketing, including 100% growth and an IPO run; at Robert Half International as head of Corporate Communications; as Bureau Chief for Venture Magazine, where she directed media coverage on venture capital and emerging growth companies. Her consulting and trusted advisor coaching to leaders has covered multiple industry sectors, including life sciences, medical device, industrial design, finance, venture capital, technology, professional services, media, higher education, non-profits, and foreign governments.
Marie-Jeanne graduated from Stanford University and completed additional study at UC Berkeley in HR, Training and Development. She is an ICF certified coach trained at New Ventures West, and was one of 100 consultants selected worldwide for a rigorous year-long training at the renowned Search Inside Yourself Leadership Program. The program was developed at Google in conjunction with leading neuroscientists. She is known for her dynamic keynotes, and her writing has been published in business school textbooks.
Marie-Jeanne brings a diverse and inclusive sensibility to her work. She came to this country as an immigrant, speaks two languages, holds multiple citizenships, and is raising biracial children. Her pro-bono contributions include longtime service as a YMCA board member, and teaching mindfulness to youth and to caregivers of the elderly. Marie-Jeanne loves yoga, travel, nature, dancing and dark chocolate, and finds her best teachers in her immediate family – two teens and her elderly parents – all affectionately known as her in-house "Zen Masters."
